CAN i PREVENT CANCER WITH MY DIET?
Current literature is very clear that consuming diets that excessively raise your blood sugar and consequently, your insulin levels, will, therefore, increase risk of cancer. Thus, diets high in simple carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour can increase cancer risk.

Consuming a diet high simple carbohydrate diets causes your pancreas to secrete excessive amounts of insulin, which can lead to the condition called hyperinsulinemia or Syndrome X. Diets high in sugar and simple carbohydrates also produce the effect of raising estradiol levels, which have been linked to increased female cancer rates and raising dihydrotestosterone levels, which have been linked to increased male cancer rates such as prostate cancer.

Vegetables were eliminated in many studies as independent variables and fruits are looked at by themselves (instead of lumped with vegetables). Fruits do not prevent cancer. It is our opinion that too much fruit consumption could potentially increase cancer rates by increasing blood sugar and insulin levels.

Well, we have just completed another holiday season filled with gluttonous eating, parties, alcoholic beverages, candy, cookies, and many other special treats. It’s not too late to start anew. Isn’t that what New Year’s resolutions are all about?

Here’s the scoop: the cancer preventative diet consists of the following:

Ø      High amount of complex carbohydrates from vegetables, legumes, beans

Ø      Moderate to high amounts of protein in the form of organic meat, chicken, fish, and eggs.

Ø      Increased consumption of soy, in the form of products such as unsweetened soy milk and tofu. Soy will block estrogen receptors and decrease estradiol levels.

Ø      Increased amounts of good fats in the diet, in the form of nuts, seeds, olive oil, flax seed oil.

Remember the basic Hauser Diet principles! The main principle for an anti-cancer diet is avoiding excessive carbohydrates. Cancer thrives on carbohydrates and your goal is to starve the cancer of its favorite food – sugar! By avoiding foods that are high in carbohydrates and focusing on eating higher protein and fat content foods, you can effectively starve your cancer!

As always, it is best to be metabolically tested in order to determine the best breakdown of carbohydrates, protein, and fat that is best for your individual diet and eating plan. Not only will you be following Hauser Diet principles, but actually be assigned to one of five Hauser Diets! Just think – you could be an otter? Or maybe a giraffe?

The Hauser Diets:
Hauser Diet #1: “Lion” - 85% protein/fat and 15% carbohydrates
Hauser Diet #2: “Otter” - 75% protein/fat and 25% carbohydrates
Hauser Diet #3: “Bear” - 50% protein/fat and 50% carbohydrates
Hauser Diet #4: “Monkey” - 35% protein/fat and 65% carbohydrates
Hauser Diet #5: “Giraffe” -  20% protein/fat and 80% carbohydrates
